Kelly Cao

Co-Founder & President

Hello! I’m Kelly Cao, and I’m beyond excited to be serving as the Co-founder President of Chords of Care. I’m a Grade 12 student living in Toronto, Canada. I’ve been playing the piano for seven years, and have also been playing the clarinet for six years. When I'm not doing music, you can find me travelling, mountain biking, at a Model UN conference, working on engineering projects, or enjoying good laughs with my friends! I contributed to the founding of Chords of Care because I believe that music holds true power in connecting with others. There’s something particularly special about bringing live performances to those who would benefit from its comfort and joy most, and Chords of Care executes this excellently! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at any time. I look forward to working with each one of you to grow and evolve Chords of Care into another level of incredible.

Selina Ma

Co-Founder & President

Hey everyone! I live in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, and I’m the Co-Founder and President of the Chords of Care. My musical journey began when I first started learning the piano as a timid eight-year-old—little did I know that this discovery would open the door to a lifelong passion for music. Since then, I’ve also learned to play the alto saxophone, the hulusi, and the cello. I’ve performed monthly at senior homes for over two years, and I’m also an RCM-certified piano teacher with more than ten students! Outside of Chords of Care, you’ll probably find me watching the breathtaking Nanaimo sunrise or hanging out with friends. Through Chords of Care, I hope to bring talented musicians together to create something meaningful for our communities.

Varna Luckshman

Director of Human Resources

Hi! I’m Varna Luckshman and I am the Human Resources Director of the Chords of Care! Music has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have been singing since I was a toddler and I have picked up many instruments over the years like the piano, ukulele, and trumpet. From being in a choir for the past eight years to singing in a band (with Kayla) to joining the Chords of Care, I love taking up music-based initiatives! I am currently a grade 12 student in Toronto, so I often perform with the Toronto branch.  I have many non-musical hobbies like cooking, baking, art, and playing games with my friends. I also enjoy many sports like track, swimming, badminton, frisbee and golf. Music has always been my favourite way to express myself and be creative, so working with this amazing team to bring music to our communities has been such an amazing and fulfilling experience.  As the HR Director of the Chords of Care, I manage applications and answer any questions and concerns through our email so if you have anything to say please feel free to email us!

Noah Herdocia

Director of Branch Relations

As a child, my parents took my sister and me to museums and concerts. Only by second grade did I start to appreciate this introduction to the arts when I first heard jazz on the local radio. Although my school taught me violin basics, which I will forever be grateful for, I wanted to play jazz. When I was visiting my family in Belgium, my grandpa offered his old saxophone, which would have needed extensive repair, or the clarinet of my great-grandpa, in mint condition. I took the clarinet and discovered the instrument's potential, so I practiced hard and joined bands which have taught me the core values of respect and hard work. However, I couldn't do it alone, I was blessed to be put in touch with my fantastic teacher Tony Negron, who instructs me not only in music but also in life lessons. Working around musicians has changed me as a person in only a few years, and now I want to give back to music and the community through the Chords of Care.

Emily Turner

Director of Branch Relations

Hi everyone!! My name is Emily and I'm overjoyed to be one of the Chords of Care Directors of Branch Relations! As one of the directors, I manage several branches across Canada and help you all stay on track to share your beautiful musical talent! I am a grade 11 student based in Toronto, Ontario, and I love to share my musical talent and experience with the Toronto branch. My personal experience with music started much later in life, as I only took up singing and other instruments during the pandemic. However, I think it's changed my life in more ways than I can articulate, and I am also proud to serve as the vocal leader and co-president for my school's choir! Outside of music and the Chords of Care, I love to watch movies, play video games, and go on walks! I am also a part of several equity initiatives, so feel free to talk to me about anything, I am here for you all! I am so excited to see what the Chords of Care will do this year and in the future.
